another quick cloud render. around 15 minutes. i have a better idea of what i'm doing for these things now. i would like to go back to this particular piece sometime and touch up everything. i think i'll try mountains as the focus next time.
i should probably sleep though. haven't slept in a day .. it's really taking a toll on my energy!

i think for the next 3 days i'm gonna do some cloud studies. honestly the speed painting above doesn't really remind me of clouds as much of a bunch of colors thrown ontop of each other trying to resemble something. i noticed a lot of clouds have a lot of odd subtle colors in them like violet and every warm gray you could think of. could just be the large brush size i messed with; maybe with a little more definition i could shape it up?
i like silhouettes a lot though, they can really help bring a composition together!

i found another picture of a skull from the reference in my previous post and thought "what colors do i see?"
with that in mind, i took a light green, yellow and tuscan red and went from there. unfortunately after scanning this, i realized that it is very hard to represent the same vibrancy of real media on a computer without having to edit it in photoshop or something afterwards. now it kind of looks like a mess!

i think the part i enjoy drawing the most from the human skull are the teeth. good thing there's a lot of them! the back area of the skull was also quite enjoyable to define due to how free-flowing the shadows were in the reference i used. they're almost like quick brush strokes. bones are a fun subject to draw in general, though. they're one of my favorite things to study.

i think i ended up squashing the general form a little bit .. i think i have a tendency to do that often when i do studies. hopefully i'll drop this habit in the future!
